Otium
Otium is a collective of sound artists and digital creators founded by Matthieu Debliqui. Rooted in transdisciplinary approaches and civic values, Otium designs works and workshops where audiences are not just spectators they take part, create, and shape the outcome.
We believe sound and digital creation should be accessible to everyone. By building intuitive tools and inclusive formats, we help participants focus on expression rather than technical hurdles. Whether they’re absolute beginners or already exploring, our goal is to empower people to engage with sound in personal and meaningful ways.
I joined Otium to be part of that mission. Through the collective, I’ve developed my approach to workshops and residencies: inclusive, playful, hands-on, and always focused on building confidence through sound. Most of the educational work I do today, from public workshops to school residencies is deeply connected to the tools and values we cultivate within the group.
Plaines santé
Plaines Santé is a regional artistic outreach programme initiated by the DRAC Hauts‑de‑France as part of the Culture‑Health‑Disability initiative. It brings artistic encounters directly into healthcare and social care settings, creating moments of surprise, curiosity, and shared experience through short, adaptable artistic formats.
In 2024/2025, I took part in Plaines Santé with the Collectif Otium, meeting adults supported by APF France Handicap. Instead of traditional performances, we invited participants to co‑create sound together, explore sonic textures, and interact with instruments and tools at their own pace. Many came in unsure of what to expect, but soon found a way to play and make sound without fear of “doing it right.”
Working on this project reminded me just how personal and varied people’s relationships with sound can be from playful experimentation to moments of shared calm and expression. These encounters are not just workshops; they’re opportunities to bring culture into everyday life and open up new ways of being heard.
